A LUXURY jet that was originally going to be bought by Manchester United has been snapped up by the Bolivian government instead.
According to sources in Bolivia, the Old Trafford club paid a deposit for the £30million Falcon 900 to whisk the likes of Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand to big games.
But United dithered over the deal and that allowed Bolivian president Evo Morales, 50, to step in.
A government source in the South American country said: “The club wanted the jet to take players to Champions League games next season but they will have to look elsewhere now.
“They paid a deposit but in the end they lost their place on the waiting list and President Morales stepped in.”
The 70ft-long French-built aircraft seats 19 people and reportedly costs a massive £9,000-an-hour to run.
A similar jet was owned by Royal Bank of Scotland chief executive Sir Fred “The Shred” Goodwin.
His successor put the plane up for sale.
