Bundesliga - Magath wants Diego out of WolfsburgWed, 18 May 15:06:00 2011
Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath said that playmaker Diego may have played his last match for the club following the spat between the pair. The row reached tipping point when Diego stormed out of a team meeting ahead of their crucial relegation clash at Hoffenheim last weekend after being told by Magath that he would be on the bench.
Wolfsburg ensured their Bundesliga survival by winning the match 3-1 despite Diego refusing to travel to the stadium with the squad.
Now German newspaper Bild reports that, following a meeting with club chairman Dr Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, Magath will either sell the 26-year-old in the summer or let him rot in the reserves next season.
Bild quote Magath as saying: "If a club wants to sign Diego, they need to get in touch with us."
Wolfsburg will be looking to recoup around two thirds of the £13 million they paid Juventus for Diego a year ago. For that fee they have seen him register more bookings (seven) than goals (six) in his 30 league appearances this term.
