AC Milan are in talks to sign Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan, according to Sky in Italy.

Bakayoko joined the Blues from Monaco last summer for £40m and started 25 Premier League games in his first season in the Premier League.

Any loan deal for Bakayoko is likely to include an option to buy, according to Sky in Italy.

He has been involved in Chelsea's pre-season under new head coach Maurizio Sarri and was included in the starting XI for their final International Champions Cup clash with Lyon on Tuesday.

Chelsea have boosted their midfield options this summer with the high-profile signing of Jorginho from Napoli, a player Sarri knows well.

Jorginho started Sunday's Community Shield defeat by Manchester City at Wembley with Cesc Fabregas and Ross Barkley alongside him in midfield.

Bakayoko did not even make the bench which included another midfielder in Danny Drinkwater, while England midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has only just returned to training following the World Cup.

The Blues have also been linked with Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic ahead of what is set be a busy last couple of days before the summer window closes.

Kovacic could make a loan move to Stamford Bridge as part of a deal which takes goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to Madrid.

Chelsea are also understood to be in advanced talks with Athletic Bilbao over the £71.6m signing of their 'keeper Kepa.

Milan continues their pursuit of Tiemoue Bakayoko as they would like to bring the player in as a midfield reinforcement. The negotiations are moving forward. After conversations continued over the past few days, this morning there was an important meeting between the club and the brother-agent of the player and their Italian intermediary, Federico Pastorello.

They are working on a loan deal with an option to purchase between 30 and 35 million, but the agreement with Chelsea is not yet defined, although there aren't many obstacles in the way. The meeting with the representatives of Bakayoko was also positive, Leonardo and Maldini tried to convince the player to join Milan and the presence of two important figures was fundamental in doing so.

The signs are positive, Bakayoko is getting closer to Milan.

Bakayoko has arrived in Milan. After settling the final details with Chelsea, Milan have acquired the French 1994 born midfielder on loan with a right of redemption set at 35 million euros. Tomorrow he will undergo his medicals, and start his Rossoneri adventure.

AC Milan are pleased to announce the signing of French midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko from Chelsea FC. The 23 year-old joins the club on a loan deal with an option to make the move permanent.

Born 17th August 1994 in Paris, Bakayoko’s career started in his native France with Rennes before taking him to Monaco and Chelsea. The midfielder has two major honours to his name, winning the league title in 2017 with Monaco and then the FA Cup with Chelsea the year after. Bakayoko will be unveiled to the media in a press conference on Friday August 17th , 3 PM CEST at Casa Milan in Via Aldo Rossi 8.

The press conference will be broadcast live on Milan TV and will also be available on live streaming in Italian on and in English on .
