Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect.
The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future. A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager.

Surprised #MUFC acted now but they were right to. They've regressed in terms of results and style this season under Mourinho, with fans restless and a number of players unhappy. Time to move forward with a proper structure - head of football - & modern manager

Would not be a surprise if Manchester United turn to Laurent Blanc. He’s immediately available, a close relationship with Alex Ferguson, former player. Carrick, meanwhile, doesn’t have his pro-licence
