Idrissa Gueye asks Everton to leave for Paris Saint-Germain PSG made £21.5m bid for the midfielder which Everton are expected to reject - Sky sources By Sky Sports News Last Updated: 28/01/19 11:44pm
Idrissa Gueye has handed in a transfer request at Everton in a bid to secure a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Sky Sports News understands.
Gueye has written to club officials pleading with them to allow him to join the French champions. Sky Sports News revealed on Sunday that PSG had bid £21.5m for the midfielder. Everton insist Gueye is not for sale and they are expected to reject the offer. However, with just four days left in the transfer window, it is understood PSG could come back to test Everton's resolve with an increased offer to try to secure a move.
Gueye has played a leading role in Everton's midfield since arriving two-and-a-half years ago for £7.6m from Aston Villa.
He has played 20 games in the Premier League this season after featuring for Senegal in the World Cup last summer.
PSG are also close to signing Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes after a fee of £35m was agreed between the two clubs.
PSG have not given up on their efforts to land Idrissa Gueye and are expected to make contact again with Everton in the next few hours.
Sky Sports News has been told PSG remain unwilling to improve their initial offer of £21.5m for the Senegalese international.
However, with January’s Transfer Window closing at 11pm tomorrow, the Ligue 1 champions face some tough negotiations ahead, with Everton thought to be holding out for almost double the £21.5m offered on Sunday.
Reports in France this morning suggest PSG are likely to agree the sale of French youth international Yacine Adli to Bordeaux for around £6m later today.
And despite continued pressure to conform to FFP regulations, Adli’s move could in turn free up more cash to spend on Gueye.

PSG have come in with a very late with a renewed bid of just over £26m for Idrissa Gueye, but Everton have rejected the offer. I think that was for two reasons:
A) Everton don't want to lose the player
B) It has come so late that they won't be able to get a replacement for him.
It will be disappointing for the player because he wanted to go but I would be amazed if anything would happen now.
It would have been a great move for him. He is 29-years-old and it would have been the chance to enjoy the latter stages of his career, but that chance to him has been denied, so what will he be like at the club over the coming weeks?
