24cm cube of a mixture of enthane C2H4 , ethyne C2H2 and nitrogen were exploded with 60cm cube of oxygen. The resulting mixture of gases was reduced in volume by 40cm cube on shaking with potassium hydroxide solution; another reduction of 6cm cube was observed on shaking with alkaline pyrogallol solution. Find the composition by volume of the given mixture, assuming all the volumes are measured under room conditions. |
