Schalke coach Felix Magath has put pressure on his employers by demanding a 30 million euros transfer kitty.Magath is locked in a power struggle at the club and is sset to have a summit meeting with chairman Clemens Tonnies this week.
The Bundesliga club board have so far frustrated Magath with a lack of transfer funds, and now the coach has made his views public on the issue with 30 million euros (£25m) the size of the war chest he is after.
"We have in the past season, by rule of thumb, recorded at least 30 million," Magath said.
"To continue to play in the Bundesliga and possibly set up the preliminary round of the Champions League to survive, we must put this money into the team."
Meat entrepreneur Tonnies has said he is prepared to back Schalke in the transfer market, with Magath seeking "world-class talent".
The Royal Blues, who finished second to Bayern Munich last season, are desperate to sign a new striker for the upcoming campaign after seeing Kevin Kuranyi, Gerald Asamoah and Vicente Sanchez all leave this summer.
Spanish record goalscorer Raul of Real Madrid has been persistently linked with a move to the club, while Ibrahim Afellay of PSV Eindhoven and playmaker Zvjezdan Misimovic of Wolfsburg have also reportedly been targeted.
