City are delighted to announce the signing of Alvaro Negredo, who becomes the Club’s third new recruit of the summer.
  

The Spanish international follows Jesus Navas in making the switch from Sevilla.
He will join up with the squad on the pre-season tour, and wear the number 9 shirt
Recognised as one of La Liga’s most potent strikers in recent years, the 27-year old was fourth top scorerin Spain last season with 25 league goals, trailing only Lionel Messi,Cristiano Ronaldo and Radamel Falcao Garcia.
A graduate of Rayo Vallecano’s youth academy, the 6"1' forward only made a handful of appearances for the then-third division outfit before Real Madrid opted to take him acrossthe Spanish capital in 2005.
Although the Madrid-born Negredo never played a game at first-team level at the Santiago Bernabeu, he did feature regularly for a B team which included Javi Garcia, Juan Mata and Alvaro Arbeloa.

The saga Negredo is already in its final stretch. Manchester City and Seville have reached a tentative agreement to close the transfer of Madrid the English team.
The agreement could be made official this Tuesday.

The transfer will close in an amount close to 28 million euros. 25 fixed and 3 validated.

The idea is that this Tuesday will sign all papers and official agreement can be made the same day.

Álvaro Negredo has left the Sevilla training camp in Costa Ballena to travel to Seville in order to sign the necessaries that will make him a Manchester City player.

The Madrid-born player will not therefore be called up for the friendly that Unai Emery's men are set to play this Tuesday in San Fernando.

Just as MARCA revealed this past Monday, Negredo's transfer to the English club will have cost in the region of ?28 million (?25m in fixed, and ?3m in variables).

The negotiations picked up pace towards the end - neither party was interested in them going on forever, especially with Sevilla having convinced Kevin Gameiro to be Negredo's substitute. The French forward has assured what MARCA has already published - that he has the beginnings of an agreement with the Andalusian club.

Manuel Pellegrini can now put a tick by one of the names at the top of the list of forwards that he wanted signing. The other is Stevan Jovetic, and The Blues hope to seal the deal with the Montenegrin as soon as possible, after having reached an agreement with his club, Fiorentina.

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido admits striker Alvaro Negredo is close to completing a move Manchester City.

Negredo, who scored 25 goals in La Liga last season, is set to join the Premier League runners-up for a reported ?23m after Del Nido revealed the Andalusian outfit are on the verge of ratifying the sale.

He told Sevilla's official website: "We are about to close on the sale of the player and, if everything goes normally and everything is signed, he will soon say goodbye to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

"Manchester City are buying a great player, the top-scoring Spaniard in La Liga. This is a big deal for Sevilla, the second most important in our history after we sold Daniel Alves, and the player will sign the contract of his life.

"Everyone should be happy. It is a great deal for all three parties."

Should the deal go through, Negredo will follow winger Jesus Navas from Seville to Manchester, with Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho representing City other summer signing to date.
