Wigan ended 10-man Manchester City's hopes of a quadruple with a shock 1-0 win in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Monday.

Will Grigg scored the winner for the League One side in the 79th minute when he finished brilliantly from the edge of the box.

City had largely dominated the match, even after seeing Fabian Delph sent off at the end of the first half for a sliding tackle on Max Power that referee Anthony Taylor looked initially to have deemed only worth a booking.

The incident sparked a furious reaction from City boss Pep Guardiola, who was involved in a heated debate with his counterpart Paul Cook that continued down the tunnel at half-time.

And Guardiola's mood will unlikely to have improved after seeing his side crash out of their first competition this season.

Defeat is only the third of the campaign for City, who had created enough good chances to win the game, especially in the first half, despite Wigan looking dangerous on the break.

Sergio Aguero headed a decent opportunity over in the third minute before Ilkay Gundogan saw a shot palmed away.

Wigan threatened at the other end too, with Grigg shooting into the side-netting and Nick Powell seeing an effort blocked on the counter.

Fernandinho wasted City's best opening of the half when he blazed over from the penalty spot, while Christian Walton denied Aguero in the 45th minute.

But City were reduced to 10 men late in the first half when Delph slid in on Power, with the referee initially appearing set to book Delph, only to then issue a red card.

City were incensed by the decision and Guardiola and Cook clashed on the sidelines and then exchanged words down the tunnel at half-time.

Despite having a man less, City dominated the second half, albeit without creating any clear chances, even after the introduction of Kevin De Bruyne.

And Wigan snatched a dramatic win in the 79th minute when Kyle Walker let a pass roll by him and Grigg pounced and finished brilliantly from the edge of the box.

曼城防線派膠 英足盃負韋根四冠夢碎



力爭破天荒成為四冠王的曼城，周一晚在英格蘭足總盃第5圈賽事因為防線嚴重犯錯，作客以0:1不敵英甲的韋根，宣佈四冠夢碎。

藍月亮周日會在英格蘭聯賽盃決賽與阿仙奴爭冠軍，領隊哥迪奧拿顯然心有所繫，正選陣容中收起了中堅高柏尼、右閘基爾獲加和中場奇雲迪布尼。面對目前在英甲排次席的韋根，在英超排榜首的曼城一如所料取得壓倒性的優勢，控球百分比達到83%。上半場唯一值得談論的焦點，是曼城左閘戴爾夫在補時階段因為作出雙腳飛剷被罰。球證最初手中只拿著一面黃牌，但其後改變主意，直接出示紅牌將戴爾夫趕離場，藍月亮少打一人。
易邊後，人少打人多的曼城雖然仍掌控比賽形勢，但始終未能打破僵局，主隊更加在完場前11分鐘藉曼城球員一次嚴重犯錯取得入球。
79分鐘，後備上陣的曼城右閘基爾獲加，在中場線己隊半場右翼位置令人費解的讓皮球在胯下溜過，相信是以為身後的中堅史東斯會負責「補位」。韋根射手基歷治見機不可失，馬上發力狂追皮球，史東斯在基歷治拋離兩個身位後才如夢初醒，另一中堅拿樸迪亦似乎並未意識到危機逼近，一心相信基爾獲加能跑贏基歷治，僅以散步般的速度回防。基歷治追到皮球後，在大禁區外以身位力抗基爾獲加，並於失平衡的情況下起腳射遠柱，把守最後一關的曼城門將哥迪奧巴禾未能撲出射門，韋根在輸形勢下先開紀錄。
韋根最終在主場憑基歷治射入今屆賽事的第七個入球，在主場爆大冷以1:0擊敗曼城，踢入英足盃半準決賽。英足盃半準決賽在下月17日上演，屆時韋根會與另一支英超球隊修咸頓爭入4強。

曼城周一晚在英格蘭足總盃第5圈作客以0:1不敵英甲球隊韋根出局，季內成為四冠王的美夢幻滅。禍不單行的是，曼城前鋒阿古路賽後牽涉在與主隊球迷的衝突當中，更被電視鏡頭捕捉到疑似推撞，或是出手打韋根球迷，相信英格蘭足總很有可能會作出研訊。

根據英國《BBC》的電視畫面，韋根球迷在完場後衝入球場慶祝，期間曼城前鋒阿古路似乎推撞，或是出手打一名走近自己身邊的韋根球迷，暫時未知這位阿根廷射手是否在受到球迷的挑釁下才有所動作。
另一方面，當曼城左閘戴爾夫在上半場補時階段被逐離場後，曼城領隊哥迪奧拿和韋根主帥保羅曲克在場邊發生激烈爭執，事件在半場兩隊步入更衣室期間仍然繼續。韋根主場內的球員通道鏡頭亦拍攝到事發經過，但哥帥賽後淡然表示「半場時甚麼事情都沒有發生」，拒絕評論當時的情況。
