Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins is to join Russian champions Rubin Kazan, VfL Wolfsburg have confirmed.
The Bundesliga outfit have announced, via their official website, that the ex-Newcastle United star will be leaving them and suggested Martins will sign a three-year contract with his new club.
Speaking of the move, the 25-year-old told BBC Sport: " [It's] a new beginning, a new start in a new country promises so much of a challenge for me.
"I have to thank the fans of Wolfsburg, my former colleagues there and wish the club all the best for the future.
"I am joining a team of champions and I hope to bring my best to the club to make them even greater."
Martins, who failed to settle in Germany following his move to Wolfsburg from Newcastle in 2009, is seemingly looking forward to playing a more pivotal role with Rubin.
"We spoke to the coach and he emphasised that Martins has a massive role to play in his team, which is encouraging," Martins' agent Nicola Walter said.
"It is a fresh start for Martins, after playing in Italy, England and Germany, he is happy to be part of the evolution and success of Rubin in Europe.
"Hopefully the European Champions League and the demanding Russian league will give the player something important to focus on after his World Cup disappointments."
