Leicester have sacked Craig Shakespeare after a dismal start to the season at the King Power.

The Foxes are in the bottom three after just one win from their opening eight Premier League games.

Monday night's 1-1 draw at home to West Brom was the final straw for Leicester chiefs.

Shakespeare landed the Foxes job on a full-time basis following a successful spell in caretaker charge following the dismissal of Claudio Ranieri.

However, he has followed Ranieri out of the door, according to the Leicester Mercury.

Shakespeare leaves the King Power after 26 games at the helm.

Leicester have won 11 games since Shakespeare took over from Ranieri in February, drawing six and losing the other nine.

Craig Shakespeare has been sacked as the manager of Leicester City only four months after succeeding Claudio Ranieri on a permanent basis.
Sportsmail understands the 53-year-old was called to a meeting with the club hierarchy on Tuesday to be told a decision has been made to dismiss him after a run of one win in 10 Premier League games that leaves the 2015-16 champions in 18th place this season.
The Foxes could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to West Brom on Monday night and have won just three times this term, with two of those victories coming in the Carabao Cup.  

Shakespeare only replaced Ranieri in June, signing a three-year contract after guiding the club to Premier League safety during his spell as caretaker.
He also helped steer the Foxes into the quarter-finals of the Champions League having filled in after the popular Italian was sacked in February.
Speaking after his appointment as permanent boss, Shakespeare said: 'This is a really exciting opportunity for me to continue along this new path in my career and to continue to work with a club and a group of staff I've grown extremely close to.
'I'm grateful to the owners and the Board of Directors for their continued faith and support.'
'Our preparations for pre-season and the new Premier League campaign have been on-going for some time, but we can now move on with certainty and ensure we are well equipped to compete at the levels now expected of a club like Leicester City.'

Leicester City Parts Company With Craig Shakespeare

Leicester City Football Club has today (Tuesday) parted company with its First Team Manager, Craig Shakespeare.

Michael Appleton will be in charge of the First Team as Caretaker Manager for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Swansea City, supported by First Team Coaches Mike Stowell and Adam Sadler.

Leicester City Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “Craig has been a great servant to Leicester City – during his spells as an Assistant Manager and since taking over as Manager in challenging circumstances in February. His dedication to the Club and to his work has been absolute and the contribution he made to the most successful period in Leicester City history is considerable.

“However, our early promise under Craig’s management has not been consistently evident in the months since and the Board feels that, regrettably, a change is necessary to keep the Club moving forward – consistent with the long-term expectations of our supporters, Board and owners.

“Craig is and will remain a very popular, respected figure at Leicester City and will be welcome back at King Power Stadium in future, both professionally and as a friend of the Club.”

The Club will now begin the process of identifying and appointing its next First Team Manager and will make no further comment on the process until the appropriate time.
