Arsenal make £90m bid for Monaco attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain saleArsenal have revived their interest in Thomas Lemar and have made a potential British record £90million bid for the Monaco midfielder.The Gunners saw Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain complete his £35million move to Liverpool on transfer deadline day - after rejecting a new contract offer - and risk also losing Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City.
They see France international Lemar as a replacement for Sanchez and placate fans should the Chilean exit the Emirates Stadium.
City have returned to Arsenal with a second bid for Sanchez in the region of £60m, who is out of contract next summer, leading the Gunners to return for Lemar.Liverpool and Barcelona have also shown interest in Lemar, with the Reds making a £74m bid as they prepare for the possible departure of Philippe Coutinho.
Earlier in August, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said that their attempts to sign Lemar had ended and the deal was 'dead'.
The Gunners made three bids previously for Lemar, the highest of £50m, which were all rejected by the Ligue 1 champions.
Wenger said: 'It's dead because Monaco has closed the door. They are still on cases like Kylian Mbappe and Fabinho.
'They've already lost Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko, so Monaco is at a stage where they have closed the door.'
However, with Oxlade-Chamberlain gone and Sanchez possibly set to follow, Wenger is now looking to splash the cash to maintain Arsenal's hopes of a return to the Champions League.
