Joe Hart is keeping his options open – and that includes staying at Manchester City.England’s No 1, who spent last season on loan at Torino, has two years remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium where he is deemed surplus to requirements by Pep Guardiola.However, the manager’s stance may not automatically result in the 30–year-old’s departure this summer.
Sportsmail understands that Hart is keen on a fresh start elsewhere but will not be forced out of a club he has been at for 11 years.
West Ham United are interested in taking the goalkeeper but it is understood the east London club would prefer a season-long loan.Hart is keen on a fresh start while his current club would also prefer a permanent switch.
Given Hart’s current salary, there appears to be a limited number of clubs capable of affording to bring him on board.
A move to Liverpool would appear to be ideal, however, Kop boss Jurgen Klopp has previously ruled that out.Klopp’s stance has caused some bewilderment. The German was in charge of Borussia Dortmund when Hart produced arguably his finest display in a City shirt to somehow salvage a 1-1 draw in a 2012 Champions League clash at the Etihad.
Hart is known to have admirers at Anfield but the manager’s position remains the same.
A domino effect caused by the departure of a big name goalkeeper is most likely to see Hart leave the club he joined from Shrewsbury in 2006.
United are known to be monitoring the situation should David de Gea depart the club but a move across the Manchester divide – let alone from Guardiola to Jose Mourinho – is difficult to envisage.Should Chelsea lose Thibaut Courtois to Madrid, Hart would appear to be a likely replacement.
Moves abroad have been mentioned and the player – with a year in Italy under his belt – is thought to be open to the idea.
However, should no move be forthcoming, Hart will report back for pre-season training with the rest of his City teammates.
