Robbie Brady: Burnley sign Norwich City midfielder in club-record deal



Burnley have broken their transfer record to sign midfielder Robbie Brady from Norwich City for a fee that could reach £13m.

The Republic of Ireland international, 25, has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Premier League side.

The Clarets' previous club record was the £10.5m deal for midfielder Jeff Hendrick from Derby County in August.

Brady joined Championship side Norwich from Hull in July 2015, having started his career at Manchester United.

He has made 26 appearances for the Canaries this season, scoring four goals.

The Republic of Ireland international wants to leave provided the clubs can agree on a fee

Bournemouth have joined the race to sign Robbie Brady - even though his price-tag has hit £10million.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is trying to do a deal even though they have been quoted that staggering price by Norwich.

Brady has asked Norwich to let him go if a fee can be agreed with Bournemouth joining Villa, Burnley and Sunderland in the queue of interested clubs.

The Republic of Ireland international is a man in demand after failing to grab a Premier League move following Norwich's relegation to the Championship.

The former Hull star's versatility is attractive, with an ability to play at left-back, left-wing and centre-midfield.

Steve Bruce worked with the 25-year-old whilst the pair were with the Tigers, but a move back to the Premier League will surely be his priority should he exit Carrow Road.

Burnley have completed the signing of Robbie Brady from Norwich for an undisclosed club-record fee.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche stepped up his efforts to sign the Republic of Ireland international after losing out to West Ham in the chase for Hull City's Robert Snodgrass.

The versatile 25-year-old has played 31 times for his country, lining out at left back, on the left-hand side of midfield and in central midfield.

Brady has played 22 times for the Canaries in the Championship this season, scoring four goals and registering four assists.

The move to Turf Moor will see Brady reunited with international team-mate and childhood friend Jeff Hendrick, who he played alongside for St Kevin's Boys in Dublin's youth leagues.

Speaking about Brady's potential move earlier this week, Hendrick told Sky Sports: "For me personally it would be brilliant to have another friend here and I think he would help the squad as well.

"I text him a lot and talk to him every few days - I have known him since the age of seven - so we have a lot of different conversations.

"He is a great player and everyone is saying how well he's done over the previous few years."
