Roma and AC Milan are interested in signing Sunderland striker Fabio Borini in the January transfer window, according to Sky sources. Sky in Italy say Roma have made contact with Sunderland about signing the Italian - who left the Serie A giants in 2012 to join Liverpool - on loan. AC Milan are yet to make contact but are understood to be monitoring 25-year-old. Roma, who signed Borini on loan from Parma in 2011, acknowledge however that with the Black Cats battling against relegation, their chances of signing him are slim. Borini - who scored a superb goal in the 3-1 defeat at Manchester United on Boxing Day - began his career with Bologna in Italy, but moved to Chelsea in 2007 as soon as he was 16.
He had a spell on loan at Swansea but made just four appearances for Chelsea before joining Parma.
He moved to Roma in 2011, scoring nine goals in 24 games, including an equaliser in the Rome derby with Lazio.
Borini returned to England with Liverpool in 2012 but injury ruined his first season and his second was spent on loan at Sunderland.
He found first-team football hard to come by at Anfield during the 2014/15 campaign and in August last year he signed a four-year deal with Sunderland.
