Arsene Wenger says Wojciech Szczesny's long-term future is at Arsenal despite his proposed loan move to Roma.

Szczesny lost his place to David Ospina in the second half of last season, and Petr Cech has since arrived as the new No 1, pushing him further still from the first team.

A deal to send the Poland international to Serie A for the year is "pretty much done", according to Wenger, but on the eve of the annual Emirates Cup the Arsenal boss had encouraging words for his departing goalkeeper.

He said: "Szczesny is a top-class goalkeeper - we have three goalkeepers who are top. For one of the keepers, if he can play somewhere that would be good.

"I believe he will have a future at Arsenal. I personally rate him highly - you do not take a boy and put him in the first team at the age of 20.

He already has huge experience. I don't want that experience at such a young age to be wasted."

Szczesny made his Arsenal debut as a teenager and has started 181 times, but he was displaced by Ospina after compounding two errors in a New Year's Day defeat at Southampton by smoking in the shower after the game.

The 25-year-old played in the FA Cup final win over Aston Villa in May and insisted shortly afterwards he was "here to stay".

His imminent departure leaves Emi Martinez as back-up to Cech and Ospina, but Wenger said he could yet sanction another loan move for the Argentine, who has previously had spells with Oxford, Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham.

25歲的施捷斯尼（Wojciech Szczesny）於英國時間周日傍晚，在Instagram上載了一段短片，證實自己將會離隊，轉投羅馬。短片中的他在座駕內，用不太純熟的意大利語，向球迷問好：「晚上好，羅馬球迷們（Giallorossi）。我很高興，因為我明天將會來到羅馬，很快會和你們見面。」

據報，羅馬已與阿仙奴達成協議，會租借這位波蘭門將1季，並會先支付25萬鎊的借用費。原本，羅馬斟介施捷斯尼時，欲在今夏便正式買斷其合約，惟兵工廠現階段不想將此子出售，只願意外借，而且合約中沒有買斷條款。

阿仙奴今夏簽入施治，加上上季過檔的奧斯賓拿據指和領隊雲加會面後，決定繼續留隊，施捷斯尼若不離隊，極有可能在今季淪為第3門將，如今過檔羅馬，相信是這位門將爭取表現的最好出路。

Wojciech Szczseny arrived in Italy's capital to start his new adventure at Roma.
The Arsenal goalie joins the Giallorossi on loan, he arrived on a flight from London:
he was a wearing a Roma scarf and was greeted at Fiumicino airport by numerous fans.
The keeper will take his medical at Gemelli and then at Villa Stuart before signing his contract with Roma.

Arsenal: Wojciech Szczesny joins Roma on a season-loan deal

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has joined Italian side Roma on a season-long loan.
The 25-year-old lost his place towards the end of last season to David Ospina, while the Gunners signed Chelsea keeper Petr Cech last month.
Poland international Szczesny has made 180 appearances at the Emirates after joining Arsenal's youth ranks from Legia Warsaw in 2006.
"I believe he will have a future at Arsenal," said boss Arsene Wenger.
"I personally rate him highly. I put him in the first team at the age of 20 and he already has huge experience.
"I believe Roma is a big club and they play in the Champions League, play in a very different championship as well and that is a big experience for him and he is 25 years old.
"But the experience he already has at his age is fantastic."
