Spain international striker Fernando Llorente has joined Swansea City on a two-year deal from Sevilla.

The 31-year-old makes the move to the Liberty Stadium for an undisclosed fee and could make his debut in a pre-season friendly against French side Rennes on Saturday.

Llorente spent just one season with the Spanish side, scoring seven goals in 31 appearances after spending the previous two years in Italy with Juventus, where he won two Serie A titles.

He had spent the majority of his career with Athletic Bilbao before the move to Turin, scoring more than 100 goals for the Basque side.

Llorente has won 24 caps for Spain, although the last of those came in 2013, and he was part of the squad that won the World Cup in 2010 and European Championship in 2012.

Swansea appear to be closing in on the signing of Fernando Llorente with Sevilla suggesting a move is imminent.

The former Athletic Bilbao and Juventus forward has been targeted by the Swans as they seek to fill the void left by the summer departures of Eder, Alberto Paloschi and Bafetimbi Gomis.

The 31-year-old won three Serie A titles with Juventus and the Europa League with Sevilla last year, and has scored nearly 130 goals in his senior career.

But it is understood his game-time will be limited under new boss Jorge Sampaoli this season, and Sevilla's sporting director Monchi confirmed that negotiations for Llorente's transfer have made good progress.

"It has come a long way with Swansea to reach an agreement, we expect to hear in the coming days," Monchi told the official Sevilla website.

According to Spanish media reports on Tuesday, Llorente had agreed personal terms with Swansea and the 24-times capped striker only had to tie up the loose ends of his Sevilla contract.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins also hinted his club are close to making "one or two additions" after what he admitted had been a frustrating summer on the transfer front.

"This pre-season has been difficult with the majority of European players returning late from the Euros and the timescale involved in the change of club ownership," Jenkins told the Swans' official website.

"I think it's been a frustrating summer so far for everyone, but I can assure you that every person connected to this football club has been working non-stop to get the squad right in all areas to start the season.

"It was always going to be the case after the Euros that a lot of the transfer business would be done later than normal.

"But we fully expect to make one or two additions in the next few days.

"We've worked hard in the summer to change things around for the forthcoming season.

"It was always going to be a process of getting players out first so that we were in a position to take advantage of the transfer window and bring new players in."

Swansea City are closing in on the signing of Sevilla's Spain striker Fernando Llorente.

The 31-year-old has two years left on his contract with the La Liga side, who have won the Europa League for the past three seasons.

"It has come a long way with Swansea to reach an agreement," said Sevilla sporting director Monchi.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins expects to announce at least one new signing in the "next few days".

Jenkins has previously said the Swans want at least two new strikers after the summer departures of forwards Alberto Paloschi, Eder and Bafetimbi Gomis.

A tall and powerful target man with seven goals in 24 appearances for Spain, Llorente would be a significant signing for the Premier League side.

He rose to prominence with Athletic Bilbao and joined Juventus in 2013, spending two years in Italy before moving back to Spain with Sevilla.

Llorente scored seven goals in 36 appearances for the La Liga side in all competitions last season.

Swansea have also enquired about Premier League champions Leicester City's Argentine striker Leonardo Ulloa.

Swansea have agreed a deal with Sevilla for experienced striker Fernando Llorente.

The Swans have been looking for a forward following a string of summer departures and are now poised to land the 31-year-old Spanish international, who is due to undergo a medical on Friday, ahead of signing a two-year deal.

A three-time Serie A winner during a stint with Juventus, Llorente joined the Italian side after making over 250 appearances for Athletic Bilbao during a long spell with the Basque club, and then moved on to Sevilla last year.

He has 24 Spain caps and was a member of the squad who won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship.

Llorente helped Sevilla to Europa League glory last term, but largely acted as Kevin Gameiro's understudy, starting 14 times and scoring on four occasions.

And Sevilla sporting director Monchi said earlier this week that a deal with Swansea for Llorente was likely to be agreed "in the coming days".

Portugal's Euro 2016 hero Eder, Alberto Paloschi and Bafetimbi Gomis have all left Swansea this summer, leaving the Premier League side in need of some support for Andre Ayew.
