Spanish keeper Victor Valdes considering Middlesbrough offer after being released by Manchester United- Victor Valdes could join newly-promoted side to end Premier League exile
- 34-year-old keeper was on loan at Belgian side Standard Liege last season
- Boro also weighing up a bid for Aston Villa and USA keeper Brad Guzan
Victor Valdes is weighing up an offer to join Middlesbrough. The 34-year-old was released by Manchester United in the summer after a spell on loan at Standard Liege last season. He endured a tough time at United, despite being popular with team-mates, after falling out with Louis van Gaal and was forced to train alone for months before his spell in Belgium.Valdes made just five appearances for Standard, including the club's 2-1 defeat of Club Bruges in the Belgian Cup final.
The former Barcelona and Spain international has rival offers from Turkey, Portugal and Spain but is interested in linking up with Aitor Karanka at The Riverside. Valdes believes he was never given a proper chance at United and is keen to prove himself in the Premier League.
He further fuelled speculation over his future when he followed Middlesbrough on Twitter.
The Spanish keeper only follows three other clubs, all of which he played for: Barcelona, Manchester United, and Standard Liege.
Boro have also expressed an interest in Aston Villa's Brad Guzan.
The US international was the first-choice keeper at this summer's Copa America Centenario, but he may need a top-flight starting job to remain Jurgen Klinsmann's number one.
Villa are signing keeper Pierluigi Gollini from Verona for £4.5million on Wednesday, raising doubt about Guzan's Villa future.
