Give Michael Owen time, pleads Allardyce
Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce last night warned against "too much pressure" being heaped on the shoulders of England striker Michael Owen.
Owen is in contention to spearhead England head coach Steve McClaren's attack in a friendly with Germany on Wednesday and next month's crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers following injury but Allardyce is concerned about the expectations that will be placed on Newcastle's record £17 million player.
"It would be unfair to put too much pressure on Michael Owen at the moment - from my point of view and England's point of view," said Allardyce, who is set to name Owen as a substitute for tomorrow's visit of Aston Villa.
"I will speak to Steve about next week's game after the weekend. We will have a better view of it then.
"Michael's a bit more in the forefront after Wayne Rooney's injury. But Steve has to get ready for qualifiers. This friendly could be a good exercise for Michael Owen, Steve McClaren and Newcastle. We will wait until after Saturday's game to see."
Owen, 27, missed a chunk of pre-season training and the Premier League opener at Bolton with a thigh injury and although his rehabilitation gathered pace when he played in two friendlies this week, Allardyce is counselling caution.
"He's still short of match practice but Michael Owen is Michael Owen, he's a goal-scorer," Allardyce added. "We can say he's fit from the injury now, but we wouldn't say he's 100 per cent match-fit.
"Michael is relieved to have got through two matches with no reaction to the specific injury. If he stays fit, there are games coming up for the first team and the reserves, behind-closed-doors games and England matches, all in a short period of time.
It could be the same for Emre. If they're fit they'll get called up by their countries. There's not much you can do about it. I make people aware of the situation with them, wherever they may be playing, and if they do go and play for their countries, I hope they will look after them.
"I don't know Michael well enough to say when he'll be fully match-fit.
"I have to look at it day by day, game by game, and use the knowledge of the backroom staff.
"Like every player, he's going to say he's fit before he is. I have to stop all players being impatient when they've been injured."

大Sam叫大家俾多D時間俾奧雲，亦話奧雲並非十足，言下之意都係會擺佢係後備，所以大家唔駛太担心佢會搶左馬田斯個位，只需担心佢會减低馬田斯上陣時間...

下半場改為正常既作客保守踢法，Solano 換入 Martins 之後，改打 4-5-1... 最後 Ramage 入替 Milner 就轉為 5-4-1 保持勝果至完場。

p.s. 我下週都唔寫喇，寫得咁辛苦都冇乜人睇、冇乜人理，除左四強之外，其他球隊都冇乜人有興趣!
