Dani Osvaldo is set to be released by Boca Juniors after smoking a cigarette in the changing room post-match. The ex-Southampton bad boy, who was turfed out of St Mary’s after attacking teammate and Saints skipper Jose Fonte during training, has lost the confidence of his teammates and manager after the row and will leave the club imminently.
Osvaldo’s row began when he stormed off after only playing the final few minutes of his side’s Copa Libertadores draw at Nacional in Uruguay this week. Boca boss Guillermo Barros Schelotto entered the changing ROOMS post-match and discovered Osvaldo smoking. Barros Schelotto demanded that the 30-year-old former Italy international put out the cigarette, only for the forward to not only ignore his manager’s request but to verbally abuse him.
When interviewed by television cameras after the dispute, a terse Osvaldo said “I felt good for the five minutes I played.”
