Matt Ryan arrives in Valencia ahead of Tuesday’s medical On Monday afternoon, Belgian side Club Brugge announced that they had reached an agreement to send Australian goalkeeper to Mestalla for a fee of ?7 million. Ryan was named the Juplier League’s best goalkeeper for the past two seasons and is now making the leap to La Liga where, unless the club signs target Victor Valdes, will come in to replace starter Diego Alves, who is currently recovering from knee surgery. Valencia were targeting PSG’s Salvatore Sirigu, Victor Valdes and Arsenal’s Daniel Ospina, but the asking prices for each of the three players would not allow them to be within UEFA’s Financial Fair Play guidelines, thus leading to the rather inexpensive 23-year-old Ryan as the man to lead them into the Champions League next season.
Ryan will sign his new contract on Tuesday and promptly join the team for their pre-season tour in Asia.
