Roberto Soldado ready to end Tottenham misery with cut-price move to Villarreal

Roberto Soldado wants to join Villarreal and end his two-year spell at Tottenham.
The 30-year-old striker joined Spurs from Villarreal's local rivals Valencia in 2013 and now coach Marcelino has persuaded him to return to Spain's east coast and join the club's La Liga and Europa League campaign.
Spurs have been holding out for a £12m fee for the player they signed for £26m in 2013 but after seeing him score just 16 in two seasons they may have to take an even bigger hit.
Sevilla and Benfica have also been linked with the forward but the player's preference for Villarreal could ease through the transfer for around £10m.

Soldado says yes to Villarreal

Radio MARCA reports that the Tottenham striker has agreed terms at the club coached by Marcelino García Toral.

Although the fee and wages involved are not yet known, Soldado is apparently putting the finishing touches on his exit from the North London club, where he has failed to find his feet since a big-money move from Valencia two years ago. Besides 'Los Che', the 30-year-old has also played for Getafe, Osasuna and Real Madrid in Spain.

Soldado had been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks, including Sevilla and Benfica, but it now looks certain that he is off to El Madrigal.

POCHETTINO: SOLDADO IS IN SPAIN

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Tottenham have given Roberto Soldado to fly to Spain, but refused to be drawn any more on his future.

The striker has been pictured at Gatwick Airport this morning and has apparently told fans there that he is going to join Villarreal.

However, speaking in a press conference, Pochettino said: "It is true the club have given permission for him to go to Spain, but the club will announce if something happens."

Asked about Emmanuel Adebayor's future, the Spurs boss added: "He is not in my plans and he knows that from the end of last season. We have spoken with him and Aaron Lennon and there is nothing new to say."
