Euro 2016, Champions League to use goal-line technology

Goal-line technology will be used at Euro 2016 and in the Champions League from next season, UEFA has confirmed.

The introduction of the technology, already established in the Premier League and elsewhere, was approved at a meeting of the organisation's executive committee in Nyon.

UEFA president Michel Platini, who is currently suspended from football pending an appeal into his eight-year FIFA ban, was a long-term opponent of the system.

But in 2014 a spokesman said Platini had changed his mind after witnessing its success at the World Cup finals in Brazil.

Gianni Infantino, the acting head of the European football governing body, said: "We looked at it seriously... and finally we decided to start with Euro 2016 and then move on to the Champions League.

"Now we are going to look at how to implement it."

這決定是歐洲足協眾委員在周五投票決定出來的，由於不少歐洲聯賽早已使用，並有正面評價，而且最近大賽都出現不少明顯的入球枉判，令人相信是時候更廣泛地使用科技，去協助球證作出判決皮球是否已過白界。

至於到時會使用哪一套門線技術，則仍未有定案，據知歐洲足協有兩個選擇，它們是在2014年世界盃決賽周使用的德國系統，以及歐洲聯賽使用的英國「鷹眼」系統。

另外，由於現任會長柏天尼正被停職，但因為作出了上訴，所以就算他已退選，但歐洲足協仍決定暫時不會舉行選舉，去決定其接任人。
