The 20-year-old's Euro 2016 hopes are in the balance as he rarely starts for the German club while the Reds' own wingers have disappointed
Manchester United are considering cutting short Adnan Januzaj’s season-long loan at Borussia Dortmund. Midfielder Januzaj has started just two games since going to the Bundesliga club in August and that has left United reassessing his situation. Louis van Gaal had hopes that the 20-year-old would gain some valuable experience in Dortmund – but seven of his nine appearances have come from the bench. Van Gaal has admitted his squad are already feeling the effects of a gruelling campaign and the Red Devils' boss believes that Januzaj will get more game time if he returns to Old Trafford.
Januzaj began the season in United’s team, and scored the winning goal at Aston Villa.
But Ashley Young and £25million summer buy Memphis Depay have both been disappointing wing options since he departed.
United’s hopes of a return will hinge on Dortmund agreeing to their request. Januzaj’s frustrations boiled over last week when he refused to play for Belgium’s Under-21 team after being left out of the senior squad. His hopes of landing a place at Euro 2016 are now hanging by a thread and a role as a Dortmund sub will not help his cause.
