West Ham striker target misses Hammers medical after oversleeping Atletico Madrid striker Raul Jimenez missed his flight to London last week due to oversleeping, according to Spanish outlet AS. The Mexican was granted a work permit on Wednesday of last week and was due in London on Friday to seal the deal, with boss Slaven Bilic confirming it was close
. However, after missing his alarm, and then his flight, Jimenez remained in Spain and it appears his head may now have been turned by Benfica. The players’ agent Jorge Mendes, who deals will numerous Spanish, Portuguese and French clubs, has reported Benfica’s interest to Jimenez who is now in talks with them. West Ham are desperate to add another striker to their squad and face a battle to land Jimenez, whose loan move to West Ham appeared to be financially impressive. The Hammers are waiting to hear from Jiminez today, and could still convince the striker to come to London and not Lisbon, but it is now unlikely a deal will be done in the coming days.
