Sky Sources understand that Sylvain Distin has agreed in principle to join Bournemouth.

The centre back is a free agent after leaving Everton in the summer.

The newly-promoted side have been busy in the transfer market already this summer as they prepare for their first ever season in the English top flight.

The Cherries have signed goalkeeper Artur Boruc and Joshua King on permanent deals and have taken Christian Atsu on loan from Chelsea.

The 37-year-old Distin left Everton at the end of the last season after six years with the club.

Sylvain Distin: Bournemouth sign 37-year-old ex-Everton defender

Newly promoted Bournemouth have signed central defender Sylvain Distin on a free transfer.
Distin left Everton when his contract expired at the end of the season.
The 37-year-old Frenchman returns to the south coast of England, having spent two years at Portsmouth.
The Cherries are Distin's fifth Premier League club after spells with Newcastle, Manchester City, Pompey - where he won the FA Cup in 2008 - and Everton.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has been busy in the transfer market, as the club prepare for their first season in the Premier League.
He has recruited defender Tyrone Mings from Ipswich for £8m, goalkeeping duo Artur Boruc and Adam Federici, and striker Josh King, who arrived on a free transfer from Blackburn.
In addition, Ghana winger Christian Atsu has agreed a season-long loan from Chelsea.
