Philipp Lahm has suffered a “serious” injury in training to hand Bayern Munich a major scare before their Champions League clash with Manchester City next week. The German champions revealed the news through their official Twitter feed on Tuesday.
“Philipp Lahm suffered a serious injury in training,” the club said. “He is currently undergoing an examination. Diagnosis due by this evening.”
It is not yet known the exact type of injury that the captain has suffered, although the club revealed it happened during an unopposed session.
The 31-year-old has started every Bundesliga game for Bayern this season, scoring twice, and his absence for any lengthy spell would be a massive blow.
