Owen's treatment ongoing
Sir Alex says Owen Hargreaves will remain in Colorado for the time being for treatment following a recurrence of the knee injury that has dogged him for the last two seasons.
The midfielder has played just a handful of games during that time because of a tendonitis problem.
After working his way back to fitness at the end of the last campaign, Sir Alex had hoped to be able to call on Hargreaves' services this season, but the United boss is unsure when the 29-year-old will return.
"He had a recurrence of the knee injury which is of great concern to us," the boss told reporters at a press conference after United's 3-1 win over Celtic in Toronto.
"He will remain in America until he is ready to come back and train.
"There is no point in leaving the people who are treating him and did the operation and then have to send him back again. It is pointless."
