Former Arsenal man Andre Santos joins Indian Super League side FC Goa Former Arsenal left-back Andre Santos has completed a move to the Indian Super League with FC Goa. The 31-year-old becomes the latest in a string of former European heavyweights to flock to India ahead of the inaugural Super League season, which begins on October 12 and runs until December.
Santos follows ex-Gunner Robert Pires to Goa. The Frenchman, 40, came out of retirement to seal his move to the ISL earlier this month and the pair
will face other high-profile names Freddie Ljungberg, Nicolas Anelka and David Trezeguet.
Santos moved to Emirates Stadium in a £6million move from Fenerbahce, but struggled to justify his price tag, making just 13 Premier League starts across two seasons.
He was widely criticised for swapping shirts with former Arsenal man Robin van Persie at half-time of a match against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
In 2013, he returned to his native Brazil with Flamengo after a brief loan spell at Gremio, but left in August following an unsavoury incident with a group of supporters.
FC Goa welcomed the unattached defender on social media, tweeting: "@FCGoaOfficial have signed former Brazil and @Arsenal player, Andre Santos! Welcome, @Andre_Santos27! #HeroISL."
Santos could make his debut against Chennaiyin FC on October 15.
