Michael Dawson: Hull City in talks with Tottenham defender



Hull City are in transfer talks with Tottenham defender Michael Dawson.
BBC Radio Humberside reports the 30-year-old held discussions with the FA Cup finalists on Wednesday.
The former Nottingham Forest man signed a new three-year deal at White Hart Lane last October and has made 236 league appearances for the club.
The Tigers, who are also hoping to sign winger Tom Ince, have added midfielders Jake Livermore and Robert Snodgrass so far this summer.
Dawson has four England caps, but has not played for the national side under Roy Hodgson, with his last appearance coming in the 2-0 win over Wales in March 2011.
His older brother Andy spent a decade at the KC Stadium side before re-joining Scunthorpe United in May 2013.

Steve Bruce admits Hull City's bid for Tottenham captain Michael Dawson is at a 'stalemate'.

Bruce wants to bring the 30-year-old back to his native Yorkshire, but a deal has not been able to progress due to the fact Dawson still has two years left on his current Spurs deal.

"It's stalemate with regard to Michael and, at the moment, we are probably as far away from a deal as we can be," he said.

"Michael I've always liked, there's no disputing that.

"But at the end of the day, he's Tottenham's captain with time left on his contract.

"It's difficult, but it's something we've had a nibble at. We'll see if it happens."

Bruce, who is also in the market for Sheffield United youngster Harry Maguire, has also confirmed his interest in Dundee United left-back Andrew Robertson.

"There's an interest there but that's it at the moment," he said of Robertson.

Michael Dawson: Hull close on deal to sign Spurs defender

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has agreed a deal "in principle" to sign Tottenham centre-back Michael Dawson.
Dawson, 30, has made 324 appearances for Tottenham but now appears surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane.
Bruce hopes the former Nottingham Forest defender will be the first of "two or three" new signings.

Transfer news: Michael Dawson to have medical at Hull ahead of move from Tottenham

Defender Michael Dawson is set to undergo a medical at Hull City on Tuesday ahead of a move from Tottenham, according to Sky sources.

Hull boss Steve Bruce has wanted the Spurs club captain all summer

and revealed on Sunday that his club had agreed a deal "in principle" to sign the 30-year-old England international.

Bruce previously believed he had lost out on Dawson after holding talks with Tottenham last month,

but Sky sources learned last Friday that Hull had moved for Dawson again after Spurs activated an £8m release clause for Sevilla centre-back Federico Fazio.  

Speaking after Hull drew 1-1 at home to Stoke City on Sunday, Bruce said: "We hope we can get Michael Dawson.

"There's a deal in place in principle anyway. Hopefully, touch wood, we'll see what develops."

Dawson is set to leave the club he joined from Nottingham Forest in 2005 and has made over 300 appearances for, scoring 10 goals.

He was made club captain following the retirement of Ledley King in 2012.

Sky sources understand Tottenham are continuing discussions with Argentina international Fazio and are confident of completing a deal to bring the Sevilla captain to White Hart Lane very soon.

Sky Sports learned last week that Spurs were interested in Fazio after missing out on Villarreal centre-half Mateo Musacchio.

Fazio skippered Sevilla to the Europa League last season, captaining the side whilst making 38 appearances in all competitions.
