Turkey boss Hiddink has continually been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge and speculation that he will quit his role in international football increased this weekend after his side were held 1-1 by Belgium.
Now, the father of midfielder Frank Lampard has told talkSPORT that Hiddink is the man to replace Carlo Ancelotti and that a deal needs to be done soon to allow the new boss time to organise his squad.
"It's a busy time now. It's an important time in the next two or three weeks to get the players in that you need," he said. "And I would think that Chelsea will appoint someone sooner rather than later. Something will happen in the next three or four days, I would have thought, to get someone in and then get moving and get some new players organised and some of the other players may be going out. If I was to have a bet I'd say Guus [Hiddink]."
Meanwhile, the Turkish Football Federation has admitted Hiddink's future is uncertain after their latest European Championship qualifier.
TFF spokesman Turker Tozar said: "That creates a question mark, of course, because Turkish journalists ask this question, English journalists also ask this question a couple of times. He always says the same things - he says nothing concrete.
"But you also cannot hear from him, 'No, I'm not going anywhere - I will stay in charge of the Turkish national team'. There is uncertainty everywhere."
