The Black Cats boss has been knocked back a series of times as he looks to strengthen his side before tomorrow night's deadline
Sunderland boss David Moyes is facing treble frustration in the transfer market as he is running out of time to get deals done.
Having already failed to tempt Joe Hart to the North East, Chelsea also knocked back a loan move for Asmir Begovic as they are adamant that he is not for sale and has a future at Stamford Bridge.
That comes on top of failing in a move for Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra after the Spanish club called off their £7.7m deal.
Hull have also beaten Sunderland to the signing of Ryan Mason from Tottenham which is another hammer blow for Moyes.
Moyes has struggled to attract players and raise the funds to improve his squad as he faces another battle to beat the drop this season.
Jeremain Lens has left the club today to join Fenerbahce on loan for the rest of the season, while Liverpool have dug their heels in on Danny Ings, another Sunderland target.
The Reds have insisted that the striker is not for sale and will dismiss any approaches for him.
