News: The latest knee setback to befall Philadelphia center Andrew Bynum seems more likely to be classified as bizarre news. Bynum told ESPN on Sunday that he experienced swelling in his left knee after going bowling Nov. 10. He had already been sidelined with a right knee bruise that forced him to miss the 76ers' entire training camp and preseason. "I didn't twist it or fall or nothing," said Bynum, who had an MRI last Tuesday that revealed the new damage. "It kind of broke off cartilage and it made the bone bruise bigger. Obviously (how) is the question, it's relatively nothing, it's three steps (and roll). That's the most important thing and why everyone is being so cautious."
Analysis: Despite the latest injury, Philadelphia did not alter its timetable for Bynum and still plans to re-evaluate him in three weeks. Still, Bynum has yet to take part in contact drills with the team and has only participated in low-impact rehab work. (But apparently bowling falls somewhere in the middle.) "I just don't know what to expect," he said. "I have an issue with my knees and we're trying to resolve it. There's no surgical procedures that will really help or are safe to do at the moment. I've just got to bide my time." When healthy, Bynum is one of the most productive centers in the league so Fantasy owners should continue to keep him stashed in all formats until he can return.
