Fergie confirms Rooney still injured November 20 2007
Official word from Manchester United confirms that striker Wayne Rooney is still out, undergoing treatment on his ankle.
The prolific goalscorer sustained the injury during training two weeks ago and was immediately ruled out by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
The striking ace is expected to only return in the crunch Premier League encounter with Liverpool at Anfield on December 16.
Reports have surfaced, suggesting the England forward was given the green light to resume training way ahead of schedule and could even be ready for Saturday's Premier League trip to Bolton, where he scored a hat-trick last season.
The news has come as a surprise to the United officials, who felt the 22-year-old was still some way off a comeback.
Sources inside Old Trafford have confirmed Rooney is still undergoing treatment and is not back to training.
