Jose Mourinho says he wants Petr Cech to stay at Chelsea



Jose Mourinho has insisted he wants Petr Cech to stay at Stamford Bridge and says Chelsea would not be champions if it was not for the long-serving goalkeeper.

Cech has been displaced as first choice keeper after 10 seasons in west London by Thibaut Courtois.

The Czech international is understandably frustrated and has been linked with a summer move to Arsenal, but Mourinho is adamant he wants the 32-year-old to stay and certainly does not want him going to another Premier League side.

"One thing is Jose Mourinho and another is Mr Abramovich and another thing is the board because the board includes a little bit of me, a little bit of other people," he said.

"But if it was me, if it was my decision, my decision is Petr to stay. That's it. It would be my decision for Petr to stay."

Such a stance may upset Cech but Mourinho said he would be willing to go against the will of the player for the betterment of the club.

"I think that the club is more important than the players and, as was proved this season, the club needs two very good goalkeepers," he said.

"Without Petr this season I don't think the club would be champions because he played six important matches in the Premier League and without these points we probably wouldn't be champions.

"So for me, decision number one: Petr will stay. After that, second point to go but not in England. The option I don't want is for him to go to an English club.

"But, I repeat, I am just the manager and he means so much for this club and what he did in this club I think he deserves everything from this club.

"If the club decision is different to mine, I will accept with all the respect."

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has opened talks with Turkish club Besiktas over a summer move, according to his agent.
Cech has spent the season as second choice to Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge, only making five Barclays Premier League starts in Chelsea's title triumph.
The 32-year-old wants first-team football after 10 seasons as a Chelsea regular and Arsenal, Paris St Germain and Real Madrid have all been tipped as possible destinations for the Czech Republic international. But Besiktas also appear to be in the running.
'I have been in contact with Besiktas, we are in talks,' Cech's agent Viktor Kolar told Turkish publication Fanatik.
'Turkey is a choice for Cech, but we will decide when the league is over.'

Chelsea will allow Cech to leave in summer - agent



Chelsea have allowed goalkeeper Petr Cech to start negotiating with other clubs, his agent has confirmed.

The Czech stopper has been second choice this season, behind Thibaut Courtois, and wants to leave Stamford Bridge in order to find first-team football.

Petr has a valid contract with his current club. However, I can confirm that we have been permitted by Chelsea to negotiate with interested parties and Petr has confirmed his interest to play regularly at a top club.

Manchester United transfer news: Cech open to Reds switch

Petr Cech is open to joining Manchester United in the summer, according to his agent.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season after losing his place at Stamford Bridge to Thibaut Courtois.

United could be on the look-out for a new keeper with speculation mounting that David De Gea will quit the club to move to Real Madrid.

Cech, who still has a year left on his Chelsea contract, has also been linked with Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Fenerbahce.

Cech's agent Viktor Kolar told Sport: "Arsenal, United or PSG are all top clubs. And Petr would like to join one of them - definitely."
