Lassana Diarra transfer to QPR falls through

Diarra watched Rangers' 1-0 league victory over Sunderland from the Loftus Road stands on Saturday, with manager Redknapp saying the deal was complete barring paperwork.
However, the Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder's move has now fallen apart, denying Redknapp the chance to work with the France midfielder he signed at Portsmouth.

Toby Alderweireld and Sadio Mane undergo Southampton medicals

Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld and Salzburg midfielder Sadio Mane are undergoing medicals ahead of moves to Southampton.

Belgium international Alderweireld has been linked with several Premier League clubs this summer, with Arsenal, Newcastle United and West Ham United reported to have shown an interest.

However, Alderweireld is now holding talks over a season-long loan move to St Mary's as Saints boss Ronald Koeman tries to complete two signings on the final day of the summer transfer window.

Southampton have offered Austrian side Salzburg £11.8million for Mane, a Senegal international.

Mane, who represented his country at the 2012 London Olympics, moved to Salzburg in September of that year from French club Metz.

Last season the 22-year-old was a major figure, scoring 13 goals as Salzburg clinched the league and cup double in Austria.

Koeman told Dutch website Helden Online: "I am still looking to bring in two more players, an attacker and a defender.

"Toby Alderweireld will undergo a medical today. Hopefully we can also add another attacker. I can't say who we are working on."
