Transfer news: PSG defender Alex expecting to sign a new contract 
PSG defender Alex says he is set to sign a new deal with the French champions, despite reported interest from AC Milan. The 31-year-old, who joined from Chelsea in 2012, has a contract until the end of the season, b
ut he has previously spoken of his desire to stay in Paris having established himself as a regular fixture.
Milan and Manchester United have been among the clubs reported to be keeping tabs on the centre-back,
who made 135 appearances in all competitions during his time in England.
PSG are on course to retain the Ligue 1 title and Alex has no intention of moving elsewhere in the summer as he expects his future to be concluded soon.
"I am very happy in Paris and it's almost certain for me to renew the contract," he told Globo Esporte. "I believe that in one or two weeks I'll sign the agreement to extend my contract for another year." However, Alex admits that he does not expect to make Brazil's World Cup squad despite recently meeting with national team boss Luiz Felipe Scolari.
He said: "Scolari and I had a good time remembering the time we worked together at Chelsea, it was a very good meeting but I think it will be hard for me to have a chance this year.
"There will be two or three PSG players in the squad and I always wait for an opportunity but it will be hard."
