Rodriguez signs Wolfsburg Renewal
Ricardo Rodriguez has signed a new contract with Wolfsburg that will keep him at the Bundesliga outfit until June 2019.
The Switzerland international's previous deal at the Volkswagen Arena had been due to expire in 2016 and a number of clubs had been linked with the 22-year-old, including Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
However, Rodriguez has now ended speculation about his future by committing himself to Dieter Hecking's men.
"I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to extend my stay here," Rodriguez commented on his new deal.
"I have been here for three years and have made a lot of friends since. We have a great team and it didn't take long to reach an agreement."
Rodriguez has developed into a key player at Wolfsburg since joining from Swiss Super League side Zurich in January 2012, scoring eight goals and creating 16 more in 87 Bundesliga appearances.
Wolfsburg are second in the Bundesliga table at the moment, trailing leaders and defending champions Bayern Munich by 11 points - a gap they can cut with victory over the Bavarians in their first game after the mid-season break on January 30.
