Official: Parma seal Varela signing Parma have confirmed the loan signing of Porto winger Silvestre Varela. The Portugal interantional had been at West Bromwich Albion on a temporary basis since the summer but failed to make an impact at the Hawthorns.
The Serie A outfit have now swooped for him and, having passed a medical in Italy on Tuesday, he will spend the remainder of the campaign at the Ennio Tardini.
"Parma FC announce that they have acquired on a temporary basis FC Porto winger Silvestre Varela," a club statement read. "He had played first half of this season in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion. He will wear the No.26 shirt."
Parma have also confirmed a loan deal for Atletico Madrid winger Cristian Rodriguez, who also joins for the remainder of the campaign. Parma have endured a disappointing season so far and currently sit rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table, some nine points behind Chievo, who are 17th.
Roberto Donadoni's men are reportedly chasing another former Porto winger, Cristian Rodriguez, as they look to stave off relegation.
