Raul Tamudo, the top goal scorer in the history of Espanyol, has announced his retirement from professional football. In addition to 13 seasons with Espanyol, he also played for Alaves, Lleida, Real Sociedad, Rayo Vallecano, Pachucha (Mexico) and Sabadell.
He retires after famously scoring two goals against Barcelona in 2007, two goals which served up the La Liga title to Real Madrid.
Tamudo also scored the goal that kept Rayo Vallecano in La Liga in 2012.
"A new era begins now. I am a father and I want to enjoy my time with son to the maximum, to go to Cornella and to watch my RCD ESPANYOL," he wrote in a goodbye letter.
