Bastian Schweinsteiger could face a three-match ban for his clash with Winston Reid in Manchester United's goalless draw with West Ham yesterday.

The German was seen by the television cameras apparently eyeing Reid before driving his forearm into his throat as United prepared to take a free kick.

Referee Mark Clattenburg didn't see the incident, nor did his assistants, meaning retrospective action can be taken.

Both Reid and Hammers boss Slaven Bilic accused Schweinsteiger of deliberately assaulting the defender.

Reid said: “He knows what he’s done — he’s elbowed me in the face.

Bilic added: “It’s a clear red card. A straight red without any doubts.”

Marouane Fellaini will escape punishment for his apparent stamp on James Tomkins, because the match officials saw the incident.

Clattenburg will be contacted by the FA to make sure he didn't see the Schweinsteiger incident, before a three-man panel of former referees examine the video evidence.

If they unanimously agree the World Cup winner should have been sent off, he will be ruled out of fixtures against Bournemouth, Norwich and Stoke.

英格蘭足總在3人的裁判小組審查錄影證據之前，將會聯絡卡頓保以確保他有否看到舒韋恩史迪加這事件。如果他們一致同意小豬應該被逐出場，他將在之後對般尼茅夫、諾域治以及史篤城的賽事中停賽。

至於費蘭尼明顯踩到湯堅斯一事，就因為當時球證看到了這一幕，故此爆炸頭得以逃過處罰。

Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is likely to appeal after being charged with violent conduct by the Football Association.
The 31-year-old was charged on Monday after catching West Ham's Winston Reid with his left arm as they waited for a free-kick to be taken during Saturday's 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.
The Germany international will face a three-match ban if found guilty.
He has until 12:00 GMT on Thursday to respond to the charge.
Referee Mark Clattenburg spoke to both players after the incident, but did not mention it in his post-match report.
"The matter was referred to a panel of three former elite referees who each reviewed the video footage independently of one another to determine whether they considered it a sending-off offence," said an FA statement.
"For an FA charge to follow the decision by the panel must be unanimous."
