Mesut Ozil will wait until the end of the season to decide if he will sign a new deal at Arsenal but has hinted he may finish his career in north London. The German international's contract expires in 2018 and the Gunners are confident they will be able to convince both him and Alexis Sanchez to sign new deals after holding initial negotiations.
The 27-year-old has been a stand-out player at the Emirates this season, scoring eight goals and creating 19 assists in 43 appearances.
Ozil joined the club from Real Madrid in September 2013 and initially struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premier League.
This year he has been more like the player Arsene Wenger paid £42.5m - still a club record - for and fans are keen to sign him up on another long-term deal.
Ozil, however, is relaxed about the situation and is happy to wait until the summer.
"There's no hurry," he told German news agency Sport-Informations-Dienst. "I have two years left on my contract. We'll see how it goes at the end of the season."There have been reports Ozil may return to Germany or go to Turkey, where his grandfather emigrated from, but he insists that nothing has been decided and hinted he may stay in north London.
"I'm not saying that I definitely must return to the Bundesliga or spend time in Turkey. But I'm not ruling it out either. Maybe I'll finish my career in England."
