Arsenal are willing to enhance Mesut Ozil’s status as the best-paid player at the club to ensure he signs a new deal.
And the Gunners’ hopes of extending their star man’s contract have been boosted by Ozil admitting he feels great at the Emirates.
The 27-year-old’s deal expires in 2018, but tying him down to an longer deal will become a priority during the early part of next year as Arsenal look to avoid any uncertainty over his future.
The club will offer a sharp increase on the £140,000 a week deal that the attacking midfielder signed when joining from Real Madrid in 2013.
Injured forward Alexis Sanchez, who earns around £130,000 a week, also sees his contract expire in 2018 and is himself in line for a new deal.
But Ozil is expected to remain the club’s No 1 earner.
The German said: ‘I can only say that I am very happy in London and that my decision to come here from Real Madrid was the right one.
‘There is not a single day, apart from when I was injured, that I have not felt great at Arsenal.’

Meanwhile, Arsenal want to scale back Sanchez’s training schedule as he returns from a hamstring injury. The Chilean was due to be on the bench for Monday’s win against Manchester City but suffered a setback in training on Saturday.
The 27-year-old is not expected to play until after the FA Cup clash against Sunderland on January 9 and the club want to ensure he does not breakdown again.
That may be easier said than done given Sanchez’s relentless approach to training and matches.
But Arsenal are keen to wrap him in cotton wool to ensure he is recharged for the run-in.

來自西班牙的消息，宣稱在2018年約滿的奧斯爾（Mesut Ozil），近日拒絕了兵工廠提出的新約，欲離隊他投，更傳前東家皇家馬德里的死敵巴塞隆拿對他有興趣，望今夏羅致這位27歲的德國國腳加盟。

奧斯爾不續約的傳聞，周六惹來傳媒關注後，《每日郵報》則指阿仙奴一名內部人士已向他們澄清，一切傳言屬虛構，皆因他們仍未與奧斯爾展開談判，但有信心這位與兵工廠剩兩年半合約的球星，會動筆接受球會的挽留。

奧斯爾在2013年夏天，以破球會轉會費紀錄的4200萬鎊過檔，而且今季表現搶鏡，已為球隊貢獻16次助攻，並在上周輕取般尼茅夫2:0時有入球。他在12月時接受德國《踢球者》訪問時，聲稱自己不心急續約，並表示享受倫敦的生活，認為由馬德里來投的決定正確。

Mesut Ozil will wait until the end of the season to decide if he will sign a new deal at Arsenal but has hinted he may finish his career in north London.

The German international's contract expires in 2018 and the Gunners are confident they will be able to convince both him and Alexis Sanchez to sign new deals after holding initial negotiations.

The 27-year-old has been a stand-out player at the Emirates this season, scoring eight goals and creating 19 assists in 43 appearances.

Ozil joined the club from Real Madrid in September 2013 and initially struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premier League.

This year he has been more like the player Arsene Wenger paid £42.5m - still a club record - for and fans are keen to sign him up on another long-term deal.

Ozil, however, is relaxed about the situation and is happy to wait until the summer.

"There's no hurry," he told German news agency Sport-Informations-Dienst. "I have two years left on my contract. We'll see how it goes at the end of the season."

There have been reports Ozil may return to Germany or go to Turkey, where his grandfather emigrated from, but he insists that nothing has been decided and hinted he may stay in north London.

"I'm not saying that I definitely must return to the Bundesliga or spend time in Turkey. But I'm not ruling it out either. Maybe I'll finish my career in England."
