Hungarian keeper expected to complete switch to DW Stadium
Liverpool's summer clearout is set to continue with Adam Bogdan expected to complete a move to Wigan. The Hungarian goalkeeper is keen to leave Anfield in search of first-team football, and is having a medical at Wigan today to finalise a season-long loan to the Championship side. The 28-year-old was left out of Liverpool's squad for Sunday's friendly at Wigan, after which Jurgen Klopp spoke to Gary Caldwell, the Latics manager, about potential deals between the clubs. The former Bolton stopper was back at Melwood as usual on Monday but won't take part in Wednesday night's game at Huddersfield, and won't be part of the Reds squad for their tour of the USA.
With Simon Mignolet set to return to training this week and Loris Karius having started all three friendlies so far, teenager Shamal George is set to be taken to America as third-choice 'keeper. Liverpool have also had Alex Manninger, the veteran Austrian, training at Melwood in recent weeks. Bogdan joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Bolton Wanderers last summer, but made just six appearances in all competitions during his maiden campaign on Merseyside.
An error on his Premier League debut at Watford set him back, and he lost his place as deputy to Danny Ward after Christmas, missing out on a place in Hungary's Euro 2016 squad as a result.
