Swansea City set to complete £15m signing of Borja Baston today SWANSEA City are set to complete the signing of striker Borja Baston from Atletico Madrid today.
The 23-year-old forward underwent a medical in South Wales yesterday ahead of a £15 million switch to the Liberty.
That fee smashes Swansea's transfer record, which previously stood at the £13.5 million spent to bring Wilfried Bony from Vitesse Arnhem three years ago.
Borja is deemed surplus to requirements at Atletico, where he is behind the likes of Antoine Greizmann, Fernando Torres and new signing Kevin Gameiro in the pecking order.
A former Spain youth team-mate of Jordi Amat's, he struck 18 La Liga goals while on loan at Eibar last season.
And he also impressed in temporary stints at Real Zaragoza and Deportivo de La Coruna before that.
He has represented Spain at under-16, 17 and 21 levels and is expected to go straight into selection contention for Saturday's Premier League opener at Burnley.
His capture provides a welcome lift after Swansea captain Ashley Williams completed a move to Everton yesterday.
