Everton and England midfielder Tom Cleverley is to have a medical at Watford on Thursday, according to Sky sources. The two clubs have agreed a loan deal until the end of the season with the option of making the move permanent. Cleverley has made just four starts for the Goodison Park side in the Premier League this season, also coming on as a substitute six times. Indeed, he has struggled to hold down a regular place in the team since his move from Old Trafford in June 2015.
The 27-year-old did feature more in his debut campaign on Merseyside and scored twice in wins over Newcastle and Bournemouth.
With Morgan Schneiderlin now set to follow the same path from United, however, Cleverley appears set to boost Watford's bid to stay in the Premier League.
The Vicarage Road outfit started the campaign relatively well under Walter Mazzarri but have fallen down the standings and are now 14th in the table.
Although they are still seven points clear of the relegation zone, they have failed to win any of their last five league outings and have collected just one point from a possible 15.
Mazzarri has said he is confident of adding new faces to his squad this month and now looks set to make Cleverley his first recruit.
