Crystal Palace to demand £100m for Wilfried Zaha after he expresses desire to leave for Champions League club Crystal Palace will demand a fee of £100million for Wilfried Zaha before even considering selling him. Zaha told Palace this week that he wants to leave this summer and would like to play for a Champions League club. Interest has been expressed by Arsenal, who would qualify for that competition should they beat Chelsea in the Europa League Final, but they are not expected go anywhere near offering what Palace want. It is understood that Zaha would like the opportunity to play for a leading European club and would consider moving abroad. There is strong interest from Borussia Dortmund especially if they sell England international Jadon Sancho and having already sold Christian Pulisic to Chelsea. Again, though, the German club is likely to balk at Palace’s asking price which would be a record fee for a British club.
Palace are adamant that the 26-year-old, whose contract runs until 2023 after signing a new deal last year, is worth such an amount given his status as one of the most impressive players in the Premier League and his importance to them. Zaha met with Palace chairman Steve Parish following the club’s final game of the season on Sunday and confirmed that he feels the time is right for him to move on.
It had been thought that Palace would demand around £80million for Zaha, and that a move might be struck for between £60-65million, but Telegraph Sport has been told that the club are adamant he is worth even more and intend to hold out as long as possible. Zaha is concerned that he will be priced out of a move and while Palace will listen to offers they are saying they will stick to their valuation for the Ivory Coast international.
It may well be the time is now right for Zaha, who left Palace for Manchester United in 2013 for £15million only to end up back at Selhurst Park, to go.
If Zaha is sold it reduces the chances that Palace will not consider any offers for Aaron Wan-Bissaka with the England Under-21 international right-back already attracting significant interest from a number of leading Premier League clubs.
