Jordan Pickford scored and saved a spot-kick as England overcame more late VAR disappointment to beat Switzerland 6-5 on penalties in the Nations League third-place play-off.

Substitute Callum Wilson looked to have bundled an overdue winner in regular time (84), only to be punished for a shirt-pull as Gareth Southgate's dominant side succumbed to the video assistant referee for the second time in five days.

But though England - condemned to the consolation match after an error-strewn semi-final defeat to the Netherlands - spurned a string of chances in the goalless 120 minutes, they finally prevailed on spot-kicks thanks to their goalkeeper.

Harry Maguire, Ross Barkley, Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling and Eric Dier converted in a high-quality shootout, before Pickford - having lashed past Yann Sommer - denied Josip Drmic.

周日上演歐洲國家聯賽季軍戰，由瑞士對英格蘭。賽前領隊修夫基揚言會作出輪換的英格蘭，比起敗陣於荷蘭一戰作出了7個調動，上場輸波罪人史東斯退居後備，其位置由祖高美斯取代，另外哈利卡尼亦重回正選。

英格蘭開波2分鐘就出現黃金入球機會，哈利卡尼右路施展笠射，瑞士門將恩尼森馬救出後中楣出界，那邊廂亦有費奧特10分鐘禁區外拉弓，比克福特接實。14分鐘迪利阿里帶波推進至禁區，其後分邊至左路的史達寧施射，可惜埋門乏力，無功而還。瑞士於比賽中以穩守突擊為主，令英軍埋門機會較多，34分鐘阿歷山大阿諾特右路傳中，迪利阿里飛身頭槌攻門，頂出界外。尾後瑞士打出一次快攻，前鋒施費洛域施射被比克福特救出，最終雙方均未能取得入球，半場打成0:0平手。

下半場雙方加強進攻節奏，52分鐘先有哈利卡尼接應阿歷山大阿諾特右路出波頭槌埋門頂出界外，3分鐘後輪到丹尼路斯左路出波，法比安舒哈門前解圍，幸好恩尼森馬撲救後再中柱出界，化解險象。56分鐘輪到瑞士出現具威脅埋門，格列沙加禁區外施展遠程炮，比克福特飛身撲出界外。

中段一輪中場爭取控球後，74分鐘史達寧接應阿諾特傳送頭槌埋門出界，史達寧其後投訴攻門時被侵犯，但經過VAR重看比賽片段後，未有判決12碼。84分鐘英格蘭出現破蛋機會，史達寧左路變速落底傳中，迪利阿里頭槌攻門頂中楣，後備上陣的哥林威爾遜執雞破網，但球證翻睇VAR判罰威爾遜無波走位時犯規，英格蘭吃下一記詐糊。最終雙方法定時間打成0:0平手，需加時分勝負。

加時英格蘭佔盡優勢，先有史達寧接應傳送近門勁射，被恩尼森馬撲出，其後艾迪迪亞和迪利阿里的頭槌埋門，均未能轉化為入球，加時下半場英軍換入辛祖和巴克里加強攻力，116分鐘史達寧主射罰球彎過人牆中楣角，始終未能射破大門，雙方經過120分鐘激戰後仍是0:0平手，雙方需以12碼分勝負。

雙方頭4輪均射入，關鍵的第5輪英軍派出門將比克福特主射，他亦不負所托射破網，那邊廂瑞士亦攻入，雙方進入突然死亡階段，英軍迪亞第6輪射入，相反瑞士迪米射門被比克福特撲出，最終英格蘭互射12碼勝出，拿下季軍。
