OFFICIAL: Atletico Madrid Complete Signing Of Filipe Luis From Deportivo La Coruna On Four-Year Deal
Brazilian left-back switches to Spanish capital...
Atletico Madrid have officially completed the signing of Filipe Luís from Deportivo La Coruna late on Friday night. The player has passed a medical and signed a four-year contract at the Vicente Calderon, with reports in Spain claiming that the transfer fee for the 24-year-old is around ?13.5m, slightly higher than the ?11m initially suggested.
The left-back, who can also play further forward, has been capped by Brazil and is highly-rated for his performances with Depor since signing from Rentistas in 2006.
Last season he had played every game of his side’s La Liga campaign and they were sitting as high as fourth in the table before he suffered a dreadful leg break against Athletic Bilbao in January, although he was able to make a swift recovery within four months.
It became clear that Filipe was going to be on the move this summer after he didn’t travel to the Galician outfit's pre-season tour of Switzerland and Germany.
Barcelona were reported to be tracking the player, although those rumours swiftly died down after completing the signing of Adriano from Sevilla.
