Germany international Toni Kroos has inked a new deal keeping him in Munich for the next four years. On Thursday, Bayern and the player agreed terms on a three-year extension to the 21-year-old’s current deal, which was set to expire on 30 June 2012, binding the midfielder to the club until 30 June 2015.
“This is another building block in our long-term planning for a successful team,” commented director of sport Christian Nerlinger. “After Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Müller and Holger Badstuber, we’ve now concluded a long-term contract with a fifth young Germany international. We think Toni Kroos will develop into an exceptional player and we’re very happy about agreeing the new contract.”
At FCB since 2006
“I’m delighted FC Bayern continues to count on me,” commented Kroos, “I feel at home here, Bayern offers an outstanding sporting perspective, and I’m sure we’ll be winning the trophies our fans want to see over the coming years.”
Kroos switched from Hansa Rostock to the junior team youth section at Bayern in 2006, and was the youngest Munich player ever to appear in the Bundesliga at the time of his top flight debut in September 2007. The midfielder, who spent a year and a half out on loan to Leverkusen, has made 40 Bundesliga appearances for the Bavarian club. He has earned 15 full caps for Germany to date.
