Juventus announce signing of Alessandro Matri, Marco Motta, Simone Pepe and Fabio QuagliarellaThe Turin club's smmer recruitment drive sees four permanent transfers ahead of the 2011/12 season
Juventus have announced that Alessandro Matri, Marco Motta, Simone Pepe and Fabio Quagliarella will join the club permanently for the 2011-12 season, the club’s official website has stated. All four players spent time with the Turin outfit last season, either on a loan or a co-ownership basis, and tying them down indicates Antonio Conte’s desire to see the club improve on their disappointing seventh placed finish last term.
Matri has thus far impressed during his time with Juve, partnering club legend Alessandro Del Piero in attack. As a result, the Piedmont side have elected to lift the buy-out clause on his co-ownership agreement with Cagliari,
costing them ?15.5 million, with the player tied down for four years.
Meanwhile,
Motta has signed from Udinese for ?3.75m, also arriving from the Sardinians. The defender has signed a contract expiring in June 2015 and will look to bolster the Juve backline next season.
Italian international striker
Quagliarella signs from Napoli for a fee of ?10.5m. The 28-year-old has signed a three year contract, and will look to build on his nine goals from 2010-11.
Finally,
Pepe has again signed from Udinese on a four year contract; the transfer fee for the 27-year-old midfielder is ?7.5m.All four deals are payable over three years, which should allow the club to continue its spending and add to their squad further before the transfer market closes.
The Turin-based outfit have vowed to have a busy summer to make up for last season’s disappointing display, and had previously announced the arrivals of Reto Ziegler and Andrea Pirlo.
